Turn a Christmas Bead Garland into a Beautiful Flag

Hey Y’all!

I think this is one of my most favorite patriotic projects I have ever done! I found these bead garlands after Christmas at Hobby Lobby. The beads are a lot bigger than 20mm but I’m not 100% sure on the exact size. I picked the bunny up when Easter was on super clearance. Now this project wasn’t the least expensive project I’ve ever done, but I do think it’s the most beautiful. There are lots of ways you could improvise if you cannot find exactly what I used.

I had to pop the bunny’s glasses off, which made me so sad!!! The picture is cute, but I have another so I wasn’t too worried.

I painted the center with English Navy Apple Barrel paint from Walmart, and I stained the edges using my Waverly antique wax from Walmart. I attached the garland using E6000 and Hot Glue. This one is messy y’all and takes some time but it is SO WORTH IT!

I needed blue beads for the star area so I used the same English Navy paint and painted the red beads blue.

I kept the same pattern throughout! I love the way it looks, but you could always take your beads a part and do red and white traditional stripes.

I wanted extra stability so I chose to add hot glue in the empty spaces. This definitely made everything super secure, but after getting about half way through with it, I realized that resin would have worked really well and been faster!!! Oh well lesson learned!

That’s it Y’all! I absolutely LOVE how this project turned out!!!!

It’s one of those “forever” type pieces that will be around for a long time!! Worth all of the effort for sure!

If you make one make sure you share pictures with us!! We love seeing them! Oh and also share this one with your friends if you love it. We sure would appreciate it!

Happy Crafting XOXO- Lizzy

PS There will be a tutorial video up soon on our facebook page so make sure you are following along over there! XOXO
