Hey girl, hey! Have you seen the Pottery Barn terra cotta pumpkins dupe? I saw them on TikTok and just had to jump on that bandwagon and try it. It’s so stinkin’ easy that I made two! Check out the video below to get all of the details or follow along here on the blog!

Supplies:

Thrifted: foam Jack O Lantern
Michaels Grab Bag: small pumpkin
Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Faded Burlap, Summer Crush (This is a clay based paint)
Baking soda, flour
Hobby Lobby: Sculpt It clay (found on clearance)
Let’s make it!
Y’all. I had to make a stem out of the clay.
It got weird. I had to work on it out of camera range, because, well, you will have to see the video to get the whole idea! It got better though, you’ll see….
It is what it is, y’all!

I used a fork to create lines in the stem.

For the first coat:
I mixed Summer Crush and Faded Burlap from Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint, then added a scoop of baking soda. (The measurement is “a scoop”… however much that is!)
I painted it all on, then dried it with my heat tool.

I put on a second coat, and I’m really happy with the way it is turning out!
TIP: Be sure to dry between coats.

I just sprinkled flour on the top and used a dry paint brush to dust it.

For the second pumpkin, I painted on two coats, drying in between. I tried baking soda for the finish but it brushed off too easily so I changed it up and used flour again. The flour worked much better.
TIP: A friend suggested that corn meal might work, so that might be an option!

I’m so happy with how these turned out! I have more pumpkins in the attic, so I’m going to have to get those down and use this technique with some more. I might even change the colors up a bit!

Let me know in the comments if you have tried or are going to try this craft. I enjoyed it so much, and hope you will too!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
