Sometimes you come across an item that you just need in your life. This is one of those, y’all. It is a simple craft, but makes a statement. I created two of these to put on either side of our bed, just above the nightstands. I think the pair will look great there!

Here are the supplies I used:
Lizzy and Erin: Water Girl Continuous Spray Bottle
Dollar Tree: Metal arched frame, ribbon, floral wire, 11 X 14 canvas. (I cut it in half to create two surfaces.)
Amazon: Sanding Sponge, twine (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan, Dark and Decrepit
Lowes or Home Depot: Wood shims (cabinet department)
Stash: Wreath

I created the surface by cutting the 11 X 14 canvas in half, then hot glued the wood shims. I alternated the shims since they are thin on one end and thick on the other. You can see it in the pix here.

I spritzed the wood with my Water Girl Continuous Spray Bottle. This makes the paint go on thinner and helps the grain of the wood to show through.

Next was to paint the metal frame with White Swan I put the first coat on, then “dabbed” a second coat. You can see the difference in the finish in that closeup. Later I sanded it just enough to bring out more of the original black.

I only had one wreath, and it was a bit too big and full. I trimmed some of the leaves off, and it was still a bit too big. A friend watching my live suggested I cut it and make it smaller. I used floral wire to hold it together but you can also use zip ties.

Let’s talk about the hat, y’all. Aunt Criddy’s birthday is tomorrow, St. Patrick’s Day. I wanted to celebrate her in style!

Here’s our project, and now I want to make the second one! But first, we are going on a tour to check on the ducks and chicks. You can tour also via the video at the top of this page!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this craft. I read all of your comments!
XOXO-Erin
