This may be the easiest, and FASTEST craft I’ve ever done! We’ve been obsessed with paint stir stick crafts ever since Erin made these Paint Stir Stick Stars! They were so dang cute! After that, it seemed like all I could think of were things I could do with the paint stir sticks.
This witches hat was so dang simple. Y’all can do this one with the kiddos, or grand kiddos. It will be a crowd pleaser! That’s for sure!
What You’ll Need
- 3 paint stir sticks (they come in a package of 10 at Lowes for $1)
- Black Paint/ Paint Brush
- Staple Gun
- Hot Glue/ Glue Sticks
- Scrap Wood, fence board, or some type of background for your Hat. I used scrap fence wood I had already. My board size is 10×17
- Ribbon for your Bow
- Optional: Mod Podge
- Optional: Material or Ribbon to Mod Podge to the Sticks.
I assembled three pieces of fence wood I had already to make the background for my witches hat. They were already painted white. You can use a canvas or another piece of scrap wood that your witches hat will fit on.
Trim the tip off of one of your sticks. This will be the Brim of the hat. Then paint all of your sticks black. (or another fun color, it’s up to you)
Once they dry staple one of them down to the background at an angle. Then staple the other side down to make the shape of your hat (a triangle)
Take the trimmed piece and Staple it across the bottom of the triangle. It’s that easy. All your hat needs is the perfect Re-Fabbed bow and you are ready to go!!! Add a spider or a spooky little detail to give it a whole other look.
To make the buffalo check witches hat, you would need to modpodge your fabric/scrapbook paper/ or ribbon to the paint stir sticks before stapling them down.
I made the buffalo check witches hat live, and you can watch that right here if you’d like.
That’s It!!! Just a couple of really simple steps and you have the cutest little piece of Halloween Decor! Easy Peasy!
If you think it’s as cute as we do, could you do us a favor and…
