Hey y’all, hey! Can you believe this gnome started out in life as a Tide Pods container? A TIDE PODS CONTAINER, Y’ALL! I know, it’s crazy, but it’s also crazy easy! Check out the video below, or follow along here for all the details.
Hobby Lobby: Fur (on clearance)
Dollar Tree: Knit hat
Other: Laundry detergent container
Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Faded Burlap
Let’s make it!
I’ve seen these containers made into Santa gnomes, scarecrows and pumpkins, and I wanted to make one! I would rather have white fur for the beard, but this piece was on clearance from Hobby Lobby, so here we are!
First, I painted on a coat of Faded Burlap from Debi’s Design Diary. I only painted the sides and the back because the front will be all beard!
But let’s talk about that fur! There are little hairs everywhere because I cut it to fit my container. I mean everywhere! Just know that will happen when you cut into fur fabric.
I hot glued the fur on, then added the hat, also with hot glue. I glued the brim of the hat so it would stay folded.
TIP: cut from the fabric side, not the fur side. Otherwise, your fur will be cut evenly across! Use other things for your beard: sheets of fake snow, fabric or even ribbon strips.
The struggle is real!
I added a wood doll head for the nose, and how cute is he?
A few sprigs of greenery, a tiny deer, and here he is, all ready for Christmas!
I hope y’all will try this craft! Let me know in the comments how you might make one. I read them and appreciate every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
