I stopped into the dollar general today, and found the cutest little vintage truck in the fall decor section. It was $5, and solid wood! It was super cute just like I found it, but I thought why not make it EVEN CUTER, and versatile! What’s even better than a vintage truck that says “give thanks”? A vintage truck that I can use in my decor year round!
I took everything out of the bed of the truck, which was very simple! It has a piece of foam and everything came right out.
Next, I needed to prep it for paint. I took my dollar tree sanding block and sanded the words right off so they wouldn’t show up under the new paint job.
Que the Apple Barrel paint from Walmart and my Waverly antique wax! Yes y’all I know, my bottles are well LOVED, and pretty messy!!!
It definitely took 2 coats of paint. I used the color “cloudless” for the main body of the truck.
Once it dried, I took the sanding sponge and rouged up the edges a tad so that the original color showed through. I wanted my vintage truck to look as well loved as my paint bottles!!
Next, I took my good ol’ trusty waverly antique wax and put a little along the edges. Let it sit for a second and wiped away any thick spots!
AND TADAAAAA!!!!! Just like that it looked like a brand new “vintage” truck, that could be used for any season!!!
FIRST, A little raffia in the bed of the truck, and then I added some of the original stems back, plus a couple of acorns and extra flowers.
I just LOVE how this turned out. The best part is I can change out the stuff in the bed of the truck and use it in my decor all year long! Not a bad $5 investment!
A few pinecones and it’s ready for Christmas. How cute would a little mini Christmas tree be in the back?! Easter eggs for easter, fireworks for July, some lemons during the summer, you get the point!! It’s just so stinkin’ CUTE!
If you love it as much as we do, could you do me a little favor and..
PIN IT FOR LATER!
