Hey Y’all!
Everyone has a place that inspires them. A place that helps them refocus. A place that calms them. A place where they can go to forget all about the real world. For some people it’s a physical place that refreshes their soul. For some it’s a virtual place. For my husband, it’s the bathroom. If you don’t have a place get one! You’ll be happy you did!
Listen y’all, there is absolutely no question that I have a creative mind that’s always going 90 miles per hour. It’s flooded with ideas that I can’t wait to make happen. It’s really hard to explain what it’s like in a creative mind. Try and imagine having 20 two year olds in a room full of paint and sharing only one small 8×10 canvas! Well, that’s what it’s like in my mind All. Of. The. Time. If you are having a hard time imagining it, here’s a few pictures of what one 17 month old can do with a little paint in under 30 minutes!

Now picture 20 of her in a tiny room, with one tiny canvas, and all the paint they could ever want! Sounds like a nightmare right? That’s exactly what it’s like in a creative mind that does not have any direction, or focus! That’s why, for me it’s so important to have a “place” I can go to refocus, and clear my mind.
I found my place by accident one day! It is a well known little place that stays pretty busy. If you are from the Colorado Springs area, you probably know right where it is. It is located at Rock Ledge Ranch right outside of Garden of the Gods.

The American Mother’s Chapel isn’t a secret. It’s not tucked off on a hidden trail. You don’t have to hike 10 miles through the mountains to find it. It’s not a “hidden” gem by any means. In fact it’s right out in the open. There is something so quaint about this little chapel. It seems so quiet there despite its very popular location.
The picture above is from the last time I visited the chapel. It was after a pretty heavy snowfall, and I decided I would venture out because I wanted to see what it looked like under a foot of snow. I was super proud of my no snow driving, Texas butt! I made it the 30 minute drive there without any issue! I’m so glad I did, because now I have this beautiful picture of “my place” to remember it by! I definitely miss my quiet trips there, but I’m excited to find my NEW place in New York!!
Where’s your place? We’d love to hear about it!
Xoxo~ Lizzy
