DIY Valentine’s Gnome Using a Dollar General Burlap Gift Bag

Who is Gnome Crazy? Let me say that before Christmas neither one of us really liked gnomes. We didn’t dislike them, we just didn’t have any feelings about them at all. AND THEN Erin made the Dollar Tree Mop Gnome and we fell in love with them.

Here’s what I used to Make this cute Guy!

  • Half of a fabric Fat Quarter from Walmart
  • Burlap Gift Sack from Dollar General
  • Bag of Beans from Dollar Tree
  • Stuffing from and Old Pillow
  • Large Wooden Bead
  • Fur from Walmart. I got half a yard for $6 which is A LOT of gnome beards! I honestly could have gotten a quarter of a yard and made 2 or 3 gnomes.
  • Hot Glue/ Glue Gun
  • X-acto Knife
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Raffia

I started with filling my burlap bag with the beans, and then stuffing the top with the old pillow filling to give it a little more body. I cinched the top closed and tied it off to hold it closed.

I then cut out my beard in just a square shape. Use the X-acto knife and cut from the back to keep from getting too much shedding.

I attached the beard to the plain side of the body.

Then, I cut the fat quarter from walmart in half and glued it together to make a seam. I didn’t go all of the way down. Leave about a 2 inch slit on the bottom. I then fit it on the top of the burlap sack body to where just the beard showed in the front and the hat came down farther in the back.

Using a couple of dabs of hot glue I secured the hat on to make sure it didn’t come off. At the tip of the hat I tied it closed with raffia and gave it a floppy look. I prefer the floppy gnome hats over the pointy ones.

We all know the Nose makes the gnome! I attached a large wooden bead just under the front of the hat. Then, using a small piece of burlap ribbon I cut out a little heart to attach to the front of the hat. Just an added little touch of cuteness!

That’s it y’all! That’s all I did, and I think it turned out super cute!

If you love it as much as we do, could you do us a little favor and…
