This DIY idea has been around for a while. I decided to try it myself and I’m pretty excited about the outcome.
Here’s what you’ll need.

- Thick Jute/Rope
- Modpodge
- Glue Gun/ Hot Glue
- Cling Wrap
- Glass or Wooden Bowl
- Paint Brush

Flip your bowl upside down and cover it in cling wrap. I chose to use a bigger wooden bowl I got from the thrift store, but any size bowl will do.

Take your mod podge and generously coat the cling wrap. You want to make sure it is covered well.

Take your rope and start in the center of your bowl, laying it down in a spiral fashion. Use hot glue to secure it every few passes. You may need to re apply mod podge to the sections that have dried a little before laying your rope down. Cover your entire outside of the bowel with the rope, by wrapping it around.
Take your mod podge and brush and cover the entire outside of the rope. Make sure you cover every bit of it. Set it aside to dry for a full day. You’ll know it is dry because the white sections of the mod podge will be clear.

Remove the rope basket from the bowl. It will come off pretty easy with the cling wrap. Once you get it off, take the cling wrap out of the inside of the basket. You should be left with a completely in tact rope basket, that is super cute to boot.

I absolutely love how this turned out, and could see it in many different sizes. It was so simple to do, and cost just a fraction of what one of these baskets may cost brand new.

Style it using some greenery and fall decor. I used a glass jug, some lambs ear, and a few small pumpkins from hobby lobby.

I just love it!

If you love how it turned out as much as we do, could you do us a little favor and…
