DIY Farmhouse Decor- Floral Sconce

SPRING is in the air!!

We are so excited for spring! Warmer weather, outdoor projects, flowers, pretty colors, ALL OF IT! That’s what makes this DIY project so much fun. It’s a glimpse of what’s right around the corner!

Erin and I frequently buy the same home decor items. Sometimes I think we have the same crafty brains, that compliment each other. It’s why we make a good team. When our wheels start turning and we start spittin’ out the crafty ideas to each other, we always come up with something fun and beautiful that we are just too excited to share!

We happened to buy the same little tins from Dollar General for just $1! She had this awesome idea to make these flower sconces using a metal charger plate, and the tin she got from Dollar General. Later on while unpacking I found a crate lid and immediately messaged her saying “I could do the same thing with this crate lid I found, want to do it together?”

That is how these cute Farmhouse Floral Sconces came to be!

Erin used.

  • Dollar General Farmer’s Market Tin
  • Dollar General Metal Charger Plate
  • Hot Glue
  • Flowers from DG and Walmart
  • Scissors and Jute

Lizzy used.

  • Dollar General Farmer’s Market Tin
  • Wooden Crate Lid
  • Flowers that she had laying around the house.
  • Jute and Scissors
  • (I COULDN’T Find my Hot Glue Gun, but you definitely need one for this project.

Erin drilled holes in the charger plate so she could secure the tin to it with twine. She also glued the twine to the tin so it wouldn’t slip out! SMART!! That is a very important detail. She also attached a piece of jute to the back of the plate with hot glue so she could hang it.

I used the same method to attach it, except my rope pieces fit through the slats of the crate lid.

We put our pretty spring flower arrangements in the tin, and THAT IS THAT! Y’all this is one of those projects that turned out better than we both expected! Both the Metal and the Wood worked great for the project, and BOTH turned out amazing! AND the best part is they both cost under $6 to make. That’s Budget decorating for sure!

You can watch us make them live together here. And as always make sure you are following us on Facebook for more fun tutorials, and tips and tricks.
