Hey Y’all,

Who loves a good thrift store upcycle? I know we do!! I found this lantern at goodwill for $2. I thought it was cute, and I knew there was a perfect Christmas plan for it.

Here’s what I used for this project.

- Thrift Store Lantern
- Dollar Tree Christmas Trees from the Village Collection
- Dollar Tree Fake Snow
- Vintage Red Truck Ornament from Hobby Lobby
- Hot Glue/ Glue Gun
- Dollar Tree light up Christmas Tree
- Ribbon
I cleaned the Lantern up and filled it with the fake snow from the Dollar tree. I quickly realized I needed a way to keep it from coming out of the bottom so I decided to add a strip of hot glue in the gaps. This worked just fine to keep the snow from falling out.

I started placing my pieces to see how I wanted them arranged. There was room for the light up tree and one Christmas tree from the package. The tree in the back of the truck ornament wasn’t big enough in my opinion. I wanted more of a “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” feel for my tree size.

I removed the small tree and replaced it with the second tree from the package. I glued some twine to the inside corners of the bed of the truck to make it look like it was tied down.

Once I got everything in place I closed the door and finished off the top with a loopy bow!

I absolutely love how this project turned out!

I know it’s not the most “original” idea, but it is so super cute and definitely worth the little bit of time it took to do it.

So keep an eye out at your local thrift stores for a lantern you can upcycle for Christmas.

If you love it as much as we do, can you do us a favor and…
