Hey y’all, hey! This little scarecrow gnome just can’t wait to share his little pumpkin with you! Check out how easy and fun this craft was to create. Watch the video below, or just follow along here on the blog.
(Pssst: if you watch the video, you’ll get some fun stories from Hickabilly Christmas!)

Supplies:
Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Faded Burlap
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Everything else is from Dollar Tree! This bottle with a tiny string of lights (they came with the bottle), twisted paper ribbon, canvas bag (for the hat), pumpkin, pipe cleaner, sunflower, fabric and raffia.
Let’s make it!
Who could resist taking this little bottle home from the Dollar Tree? I sure couldn’t! How cute that they added a little string of lights and a “cork” top?

And this is the twisted paper ribbon. I use it for making leaves, gnome skirts and beards and lots of other things. It comes in other colors and is great to keep in my stash.

First, I painted my bottle with Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint.

Then, I was sharing stories about Hickabilly Christmas (and Taco Bell), and just kept putting on my paper ribbon! It was supposed to be a beard, but he’s a scarecrow, so now it’s a scarecrow skirt! (It’s my first bottle scarecrow, so we are on a wing and a prayer!)
I cut lengths of the paper ribbon and unrolled them, then hot glued them to the bottle.
I made a second, shorter row by just cutting fringe and hot gluing the pieces on.

I cut a piece from the canvas bag (from Dollar Tree) to use as his hat. I just hot glued it on and tied the top with twine.
TIP: I decided that the hat should go on after the arms so you can cover up where they go around the back.
Also, add some paper ribbon strips inside the tip of the hat before you tie the twine. You’ll see it in the next image!

For his nose, I painted a half bead with Waverly Antique Wax and hot glued it on. Then I cut a little square of fabric for a patch, frayed it, and hot glued it onto his hat.

His arms are two pipe cleaners joined together. I folded the ends to the center (where they are joined) and then twisted on another pipe cleaner to give them some bulk.
Next, I covered them with a strip of fabric and hot glued everything together.
TIP: Our friends suggested using a bead for his hands or just raffia sticking out of the “sleeves”.

I think he turned out cute, y’all! BUT guess who forgot to put in the lights? Yep, I was enjoying making this craft and sharing some Hickabilly stories, so the lights will have to go into another project!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve crafted a scarecrow this season! I appreciate each and every comment.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
