Aunt Criddy and I cooked not one, but TWO recipes from Home Chef! You can save $35 on your first box by clicking here! And if you’d like to watch our cooking video, just check out this link. (Y’all know we had fun in the kitchen!)
Criddy’s recipe was Baked French Onion Penne and mine was BBQ Cheddar Pulled Pork Tacos.
I started on my tacos while Criddy started on her penne dish.
My recipe was simple since the onions and peppers were already chopped. The kit came with corn, pulled pork, chipotle seasoning and Carolina BBQ sauce. It also came with a lot of tortillas! We had a box that would serve six, but even with two teenaged boys, we couldn’t eat it all. This was actually leftovers that needed to be cooked!

Tortilla mountain! There are so many left over, y’all!

Here’s how it looks all mixed up and ready to go into the tortilla shells. Yum!

A little lime on the side, and BAM! Dinner is served!

I have tried Blue Apron, HelloFresh and EveryPlate, and now Home Chef. This one has to be my favorite thus far.
The meals are shipped right to your door with ice packs and a cushion thing to keep them fresh and secure!

One bag will feed three people. Leftovers are always a good idea!
Aunt Criddy’s meal was more detailed and took some time, but it was easy enough with the recipe cards that come with every meal.

Everything came in a bag (we had three bags to serve six people). Mushrooms, onions garlic and thyme needed chopping. Also included were vegetable broth, cream sauce, croutons, penne pasta and shredded mozzarella cheese. I love that it comes with basically everything you need! There are also suggestions on the recipe cards to add other ingredients you may have on hand.

Aunt Criddy and I love mushrooms!

Of course we are having fun getting the onions ready to slice.

While slicing onions and mincing garlic, Criddy prepared the pasta al dente. Once cooked, the pasta was drained and set aside.

I added olive oil to a saucepan and mixed together the onions, garlic, mushrooms, half of the thyme and half of the cheese. Then I stirred in a little salt and pepper

Once the mixture had simmered, I moved it to the large pot we cooked the pasta in.

Time to stir in the pasta! At this point, we also added the cream sauce and vegetable broth. Once it was all combined, we put it in a casserole dish.

The rest of the mozzarella cheese goes on top.

Crushed croutons are added, and finally, the rest of the thyme. You can also sprinkle the thyme on top once plated.

Here it is, ready to go into the oven! It needed to bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes.

It’s always better when Criddy is in the kitchen!

Here are some of the recipes we had last week! They were both so good! Aunt Criddy’s favorite were the Bruschetta Chicken Quesadillas.

Here are the menus for next week.

Now y’all know Finn likes to help whether we are cooking or crafting. He enjoyed adding the cream sauce to the pasta.

But he wasn’t a fan of everything mixed together!

My kitchen smelled incredible, y’all, and my family loved the recipes! Tell me in the comments if you’ve tried any of these meal kits, I’d love to know which were your favorites.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
