Let’s get started!
Wrap your yarn 5 times around your hand.
Tie at top. You can use the yarn or twine to tie the top.
Cut the loops at the bottom to create the tassel.
Trim the bottom to make it even. I needed 13 tassels for my project. You may need more or less.
TIP: Thinner yarn may mean you need to wrap a bit more, just see how fluffy it is and decide what works!

These slats are from an old shutter, but you can use paint sticks or something else long and flat.
I used four slats and I hot glued the half beads on two of them.
Paint white, set aside to dry or use a heat tool.
I also painted the stem with Waverly antique wax.

Hot glue your slats on front and back to sandwich in the placemat, on both ends.

Position your tassels to form a tree shape and hot glue each one on. Be sure to leave enough room at the bottom for the stump.

Add the beaded hanger. I hot glued the end of the string, and also glued a piece of craft stick over it to help strengthen the hold.
TIP: Always use an even number of beads so your project will hang right!

Here it is! And y’all, our friend Berta suggested making it double sided for another season. That’s a great idea, Berta!

Let me know in the comments what you might create on the back! I read all of your comments!
