Hey y’all, hey! Here’s the recipe, but you may want to double up on it because it’s that good! And y’all, I was so sure I had semi-sweet chocolate chips, but I only had white chocolate! Tip: Don’t use white chocolate! (You’ll see why later on in this blog post!) Definitely use semi-sweet! Click here for the recipe and check out the videos below! (There are two only because I lost sound!)
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Before we start cooking, I have to show y’all the eggs our chickens are laying! Is it because of my chicken apron that one of our friends sent to me? Maybe, since our recipe doesn’t even use eggs….but LOOK! The little white eggs are what the hens have been laying for a few months. The brown ones are the newest ones! We just love our chickens!
Ok, now back to our Christmas Crack!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Fill your pan with crackers on a foil that you have spritzed with oil.
Melt a cup of buttuh, girl!
Add one cup of packed brown sugar to the melted butter. Light or dark brown sugar? I usually use light, but Mr. Erin bought this, so here we are!
Here’s the thing: y’all want to keep it moving! Get your whisk out and keep whisking till you get a thick consistency. This is an important step, so keep it moving!
Now drizzle the crackers with your butter and brown sugar mixture. (Use a spatula to spread it out.) And then put it in the oven for about 5 minutes. It will be bubbly.
Remove your pan after 5 minutes in the oven. You can see how bubbly it is!
Add your chocolate chips…. I always use semi-sweet chips, but this is all I had. (You’ll see why this is not a good idea shorty…)
Sprinkle them all over, then put back in the oven and watch them closely. You’re going to spread them out, so they need to super soft. They will be shiny, but not completely melted.
THIS is where my white chocolate chips got their revenge.
They didn’t spread! I will definitely use semi-sweet next time! But y’all know, I make all the mistakes here so y’all don’t have to, right?
I melted some more in the microwave and spread that out over the stubborn ones!
Once you’ve spread out your chocolate, just put the pan in the freezer and crack it all apart the next day! If there’s any left, we store it in a container in the freezer. Your family will love this sweet snack!
Oh, the beauty that is Christmas Crack! This is how you want yours to look with the semi-sweet chocolate. It’s sooo good!
