Y’all. I can’t believe I missed a field trip with Finn. But I picked him up early and we had a fun day together! Meanwhile, I found this antique milk can and Pinterest told me to give it a makeover, so let’s do it!

By the way, I had to restart my live video, but here you go! (Clearly, it’s one of those days!)
Here’s what I started with: (I had already finished the lid)

Supplies:
Lizzy and Erin Designs: Lil Hickabilly paint brush
Habitat for Humanity: milk can
Debi’s Design Diary: Mint Chip and Dark and Decrepit
Dollar Tree: School glue
Chalk Couture: stencil
Michaels: Folk Art Painted Finishes rust

Let’s make it!
Here’s how I painted the lid.
I sprayed Krylon Looking Glass for my base, but y’all can leave that off. It didn’t really show up. Next I added Dollar Tree school glue and then brushed it on for the crackle technique. I used my heat tool to dry it.

Debi’s Design Diary Mint Chip is so pretty, y’all! I painted the lid and then used my heat tool to dry it. I love that crackle!

Y’all know I have to sand it down a bit, right?

Here, I’m adding the Rust paint. It was a lot more red than I wanted, so I added Waverly Antique Wax to it.

I like this much better! Girl, just keep going, it’s just paint! I had to try several things (as you’ll see in the video above) but still enjoyed creating this finish.

This is my Lil Hickabilly brush, y’all! You can get yours here! It is great to paint anything! I am using it to paint the mint on my project.

Sanding!

I will be using Minwax Polycrylic once the can is finished because I’m planning to use it outside.

But wait! Let’s take a break and see Waddles the duck! The chickens left his little home and climbed up the ladder to stay with the baby chicks. Wesley said everyone did fine, but it was Waddle’s first night alone! He (or she?) is happy and waddling around!

But back to crafting!
I’m putting the glue just in spots, then brushing it on. Next is painting on the mint chip.

I’m putting on some of the rust paint and Dark and Decrepit for the next layer.

I used the rust and Dark and Decrepit here.

Mint chip over everything!

I’m loving this!

Adding the wax here.

Now that I’m finished with painting and waxing, I’m going to place my Chalk Couture chicken. I was so excited over how it came out!

Y’all. I’m so happy with this! ! I’m thinking of hanging the lid with a rusty chain, just to add some more charm.

This was a big project, but I sure did enjoy it. Have you ever tackled something like this? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
Thank you for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
